"Should I Go Private?" Many people are unsure of the answer to the question: What is Private Dentistry? They can see it as expensive and don't understand why all treatment is not available through the NHS. In fact why does the NHS not pay for all our dental treatment?

Technology has moved on

Dentistry has developed incredibly over recent years and NHS treatment. With it's focus on more basic dental health it has not chosen to provide all the latest treatments. Instead the NHS focus is on a core number of treatments, presumably that it's leaders feel will benefit the most patients while using taxpayers money. Private Dentistry is simply any dentistry which is not subsidised or controlled by the rules of the

NHS

. This usually means it will cost more because the dentist will not receive any money from the government. Patients will pay all the costs of providing treatment. This allows the patient and dentist more freedom in treatment choices. It also allows for the use of the highest quality materials and equipment, which NHS fees could not cover.

The Importance of Time

One of the most important things to us in providing Private Dentistry is the ability to slow down and give patients time. Time to understand their issues and time to make decisions about what treatment to choose. For some this is a thing well worth paying for. There will always be an NHS dental service and free treatment for those most in need and that can only be a positive in our society. For many of us though we have choices about how we choose to look after our teeth. It is a very personal thing. If you would like to know more about Private Dentistry at No9 please
