This is David. He fell off his bike and smashed his front tooth. After root canal work to save the tooth we have to rebuild the remaining part of the tooth to match the tooth next door. This can be tricky. Mimicing the tooth next-door is quite a challenge. There is a lot going on colour-wise in the tooth we want to match. Matching this can be as important as matching the shape. The broken tooth is much greyer so we want to conceal this and keep it looking natural.

This is where the skill comes in. We have used two different colours of filling material, an opaquing layer to hide the darkened dentine, then a "gold wash" to add a bit more yellow to the mix. This really is a hand crafted tooth. When Dave saw his new tooth he said "I am gob-smacked...... how can you make it look so real?"
I took that as a real compliment. That is what I try very hard to do is to copy the natural tooth to create an invisible restoration.
David is delighted.
