When we returned to work after the Coronavirus lockdown our top priority was to provide clean, safe dentistry for all our patients.
Throughout his time away from the surgery, Peter looked carefully at how other dental practices in the world were using the latest technologies. He then understood better how to reduce the risks and spread of the global Covid19 pandemic within our practice. As research grew in different areas there was growing evidence of the types of behaviours and chemicals which could best keep us safe.
One particular webinar he listened to was presented by the Professor from Wuhan Dental Hospital. The Professor described how they, at the epicenter, were dealing with the pandemic and what changes they had made to their daily practice. How had their hospital become cleaner and safer?
A piece of technology that caught Peter’s eye was the Radic8 Virus Killer.
This technology was invented in South Korea after they had exposure to the the Mers virus in 2015. They discovered that the disease was not only transmitted through direct contact. It was also spread through small droplets that were dispersed in the air. These are the same type of droplets that we are all now trying to minimise by the use of masks and visors.
But what if we could destroy them more quickly? In South Korea Radic8 Virus Killer units can be found in offices, schools, libraries, medical practices. With them the air in the room is continually filtered and passed through an ultraviolet light chamber. The UVC light within them has the ability to deactivate and denature the virus particles. This means that the purified, filtered air that goes back into the room is virus free.
Whilst these devices have not yet become mandatory in the UK, we felt that it was sensible to make the investment so that we can make our surgeries as safe as possible for your treatment. Constantly purifying the air in each of our surgeries these Radic8 units mean the atmosphere is cleaner and safer than ever before.
