The patient is delighted. He has got rid of his denture,  feels he can now chew properly, and taste his food better.

I’ve already had a look and a play with the new software on a training event and it looks like a massive leap forward.

Perhaps the most appealing part is the fact that the new software lets you manipulate multiple design proposals before deciding to mill. That means we can design your smile with a greater ability and provide you exactly what you want.

Just reading through the instructions and it looks like I need to upgrade Windows first.

So once I get my head around the Windows upgrade then install the Cerec 4.0, reconnect to the mill unit, then practice a few designs….. I will report back on how it is all going.

I have found the week very educational and very interesting.

Peter Buchan has been an inspiration to me in showing me that if i do well in school I can achieve high and have a great career such as his. I have had an awesome week working at no9 and hope to be back at some point in the future.

Thanks to Lisa, Peter, Stephanie and Sally for making this week as great as it has been and for giving me a work experience to remember.

With many products on the market claiming to whiten your teeth it can be difficult to know who to trust and how much to pay.

Amazon, eBay and Google have recently announced that they are going to stop selling illegal tooth-whitening products.

They made this decision after a Which investigation found that around 10% of people who bought  whitening products had white spots or burns on their gums and lips. An equal number had brown marks on their teeth from damage to the enamel which is permanent.

European law has stated it is illegal to provide any product with more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide, or the chemicals which release this, unless you are prescribing it as a dentist. This is because dentists can assess the full health of your mouth and whether there may be any complications.

The colour of your teeth can alter for many different reasons- there may be internal staining, which can only be treated inside the tooth. Or there may be external staining which can be removed by a polisher and may not need peroxide..

Under the correct care and presciption however both in-surgery and home whitening can be fantastic. Only last week a patient phoned after receiving whitening just to say how pleased he was.

The secenery was amazing. The weather was sunny, windy, rainy everything you would expect from Scotland in September.

The route was a beast. Lots of very steep uphill and lots of very steep technical downhill. At the end of the day I was glad just to complete the route.

Would I do it again? That’s a good question……

72Km of pure off road punishment.

We made a new front tooth for James at the start of the year, replacing his old crown with a custom made hand crafted Cerec crown. He was delighted.

However, a bump whilst drinking out of a bottle cracked the tooth. If you look hard on the upper left central incisor you will see the hair line crack.

Not to worry. We milled a new tooth from the hard drive of the Cerec machine before James arrived in the surgery. We were then able to stain and glaze to get an amazing, natural life-like match to the tooth next door.

James was once again delighted with the tooth and the service.

The charge for this? Free since all the work we do caries the No9 “No Quibble” garaunteed for one year.

Now thats a good deal.

Whilst dancing to Beyonce at T in the park the person in front of him managed to connect with him and knock his front veneer off.

Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh no no

He continued dancing unaware of the dental disaster until he turn to his friends smiling and said “Beyonce is on fire tonight” and his friend said… “Your tooth!”

By that time it was too late and the mud had managed to consume the veneer completely.

That’s were NO9 stepped in after a frantic phone call. We were able to build a temporary veneer from composite filling material.

Colin is delighted. His smile has been restored. He can return to work facing the public without any worry.

He has booked an appointment the have the veneer replaced with a custom made Cerec veneer in the future.

Just goes to show the danger of dancing to Beyonce at T in the Park.
